The Rise of the New Kings of Anglesey

The New Kings of Anglesey come from 'elsewhere' - their accents, habits, and ideas are unique to them. Even though there is only 1 King at a time; the entire line shares the same bizarre ideas. However bizarre the ideas are, over time it has become apparent the New Kings are a threat to all neighbouring rulers. Their realm has the healthiest, most trained, most technological advanced, most unified, and most devoted citizens in the known world. It is the ideal place to live, unless you happen to be a neighbouring ruler trying to maintain power. Shortly after the start of the "Savage Years", the first King appeared to a tribe in the south-east of Anglesey. Now, decades later, neighbouring elites note that every "New King" has always insisted on one title only, "King of Anglesey".
While the "New Kings" are the major force moving events in this time period, there are many other powerful factions at work. Orcs and hobgoblins used the time of turmoil to establish strong homelands in the south of the island. Other human groups developed their own ways of dealing with the "Savage Times" from the strongly feudal 'Iron Dukes' to the loose confederation of towns and villages in the Debatable Lands to the isolated and fiercely independent villages of the Near North. Of the northern half of the island, little is known besides occasional, and often violent, contact with the semi-nomadic tribes that live on borderlands between north and south. These are the known and obvious factions: shadowy organizations and factions abound. In addition, only the foolishly optimistic believe that the Empire will not try to regain the Province of Anglesey - which is how Anglesey still appears on Imperial maps. The Imperial agent who can return Anglesey to full Imperial control would be richly rewarded, perhaps with enough power and influence to try to claim the Imperial throne....
