Picture
Picture
 Appearance:
Cinead appears as a burly man with a short cropped beard.  He appears as either a master smith or miner in typical garb.  For combat, he utilizes a full set of magical plate mail and a 2 handed war hammer that also has numerous enchantments.  Luanne will appear as a craft woman: potter, carver, or – especially – a weaver/spinner.  In combat, she wears enchanted leather armour and utilizes a net that always entangles and an enchanted spear.

Areas of Concern:  Mines and all crafts.

Duties of the Priesthood:

These clerics are concerned with extracting resources from the earth and all crafts.

Thus, clerics of the mines and crafts are expected to:

1.    Advise and educate those who make their living from extracting mineral resources (mines, sand pits, etc.) and to ensure their safety.
2.    Ensure that the resources are used properly and their extraction causes as little damage to the environment as possible.
3.    Discover and teach new and better techniques for both mining and crafts.
4.    Monitor the apprenticeship and journeyman system to prevent abuses and ensure the apprentices are being taught.  Judge masterpieces to confirm or deny master status.  Assist journeymen with new places to practice their craft.
5.     Monitor the quality of products and ensure prices are fair.

Powers:
1. Once per day clerics can cast “Magic Weapon” at will.
2.  Clerics are able to cast the cantrip “Locate Mineral/Natural Chemical” (see below) at will.
3. Clerics are able to cast “Detect Life” once per day/every 3 caster levels at will (see below).

Locate Mineral/Natural Chemical; Cantrip;   Casting Time: 1 action;  Range: 30’   Components: V,S,M (a small, cloth bag with long draw cords and a small sample of the substance being sought);     Duration:  Intense concentration up to 10 minutes (requires a 10 minute complete rest before recasting)
The caster places a small sample of the mineral or chemical being sought within the bag.  The bag is held by suspending it with the long drawstrings to the bag.  The caster must concentrate fully (he/she will require a guide to move to avoid running into objects unless the caster moves very slowly – small and slow steps).  The caster can move at a slow walking pace with a guide.  The caster visualizes bringing the sample to a larger piece of the same substance.  As the caster concentrates, the sample in the bag will be drawn towards the target if it is within 30’.  If the caster can visualize the target, the process is faster and more definite (e.g. if the target is a horseshoe, the iron sample will be attracted to it in a more efficient manner as the caster feels slightly pulled along a direct path).  Otherwise, the caster will be sensing whether he/she is heading in the right direction or not (like telling a blindfolded person whether they are ‘warmer’ or ‘colder’ as you give them directions).  Once ‘attuned’ to the object, the caster can follow its boundaries fairly quickly if it is a large sample.    Note: Only 1 sample can be sought at a time.

Detect Life.  1st Level Spell.   Casting time: 1 action.   Range: 20’ per every 3 caster levels.  Components: V,S.   Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes.  For the duration of the spell, the caster is able to detect life in a 20’ sphere that moves with the caster.  The spell is not blocked by any substance.  The caster must give his/her full concentration to the spell (slow walking is possible, over difficult terrain it will require a guide).  The caster will get a vague idea of the ‘life force’ of the detected life (rough size and how much ‘life’ the subject has – e.g. healthy, hurt, death’s door).     Note: the spell was originally intended to help find trapped miners....
