Lord of the Wild (Aiden) and the Lady of the Fields (Adenat)
Areas of Concern:
Nature and agriculture. These deities are concerned with living things – plants and animals plus the weather that supports them. They believe in the need for both wild areas and farm land. Both areas must be carefully looked after so they can thrive.
Duties of the Priesthood:
Priests of this domain are druids. They acknowledge the need for humans to utilize nature (farming, hunting, natural resources); but they insist it is done in a respectful, balanced, and non-wasteful fashion. Thus these druids will insist that a forester ensures more trees will grow up to replace what is cut and the felled tree is used to its full potential (lumber from the trunk, firewood from the branches, and the twigs/leaves left to compost in the forest). Patches of forest and wild are to be left near to human lands to not only act as a resource, but also to keep all people in touch with nature. Druids will carefully monitor the treatment of the wild to ensure it is not abused. Likewise, they carefully ensure that farmers use the best techniques for farming/herding. These techniques ensure that the farmer gets the greatest long-term gain out of his/her land while affecting the environment as little as possible. Druids teach these techniques but also have the power (and legal authority) to protect nature/the environment. (There is still 1 tanner who must get all of his drinking/cooking water downstream from his tannery). The druids work with the clerics of health and healing to regulate how people interact with their surroundings. While the laws they enforce are intrusive in people’s lives, citizens follow them scrupulously (tales of pre-law health or even visits to neighbouring realms change the views of the more reluctant citizens).
Thus, clerics of the wild/fields domain are expected to:
1. Monitor the wild and the agriculture lands to ensure the environment is being safeguarded.
2. Heal/change/destroy any part of the environment that has been corrupted/become unnatural.
3. Enforce the laws and principles that govern the environment.
4. Strive to learn more by observing the wild and freely share that knowledge.
5. Learn and practice new agricultural methods and teach them to farmers.
6. To share their expertise with teaching the children of the realm and new immigrants.
Powers:
Druids are able to cast the ritual cantrip “Diagnose” at will, within a Sacred Circle.
Diagnose Cantrip Casting time: 1 action plus time to prepare Sacred Circle. Range: Touch. Components: Substance or creature being diagnosed, components for Sacred Circle. Duration: Varies You may cast this spell to find what is ailing/affecting a plant or animal. At first level, a druid should be able to tell if it is sickness, poison, magic, or environment. As the druid gains in level, the information becomes more specific. By 3rd level, common ailments, etc. can be identified. By 5th level, the information will include if there is a readily available antidote/treatment. By 9th level, unfamiliar substances/effects can be identified along with a possible treatment. If the effect is intentional magic (result of a cast spell, effect of a magical item…. Then Diagnose will be a contest of the Druid’s casting modifier, etc. versus the other caster’s ability.
