Goddess of the Restless Dead
Appearance and Nature: Again, no one is sure of this deity’s appearance. Most speculation centers around some form of undead creature that is/was female. This Goddess feels that the realm of the dead is her domain and that both the souls and the remains of the dead are hers to use. It is believed that the souls of the truly evil are hers to claim. Most scholars believe that good souls are beyond her reach to pull into her realm; however, there is division over the fear that good souls can be ripped from the afterlife or their present incarnation and forced to reanimate the remains of a previous incarnation. Most scholars who believe in this fearful possibility speculate that, while the Goddess cannot permanently pull a good soul into her realm or corrupt it without its cooperation, such a summoning would cause considerable damage to the mind of a present incarnation. Of course, such a summoning would only be required if the previous soul had information that the Goddess or her followers required….. Re-animating most forms of undead does not require their soul; however, forcing a soul to reoccupy such its former remains would be a particularly cruel and evil act….

Followers: The Goddess did have a powerful and substantial following among Empire citizens in Anglesey (and it is reliably believed there is still such a group in the lands controlled by the Empire). As a result, there is an almost paranoid fear in Anglesey of any use of magic that could be associated with her worship. Such a fear is understandable given the abuses suffered by the ancestors of the Anglesey populace at the hands of the Goddess’ followers. Ironically, most of the Goddess’ followers have a fear of their own deaths. They believe that by following the Goddess, she will grant them an eternal existence – not full life, but close enough in their estimation. Most scholars believe these followers end up very unhappy with the reality of their extended “life”; however, a few scholars speculate that especially powerful and favoured followers may be granted a very extended or perhaps even eternal life spans…..
Priests: There are definitely priests of this deity. Re-animated dead, rituals involving both remains and possibly souls, ….. have all been documented. These acts obviously require some sort of clerical involvement…. Thus, not only do these priest exist but they command a wide range of necromantic spells which makes them dangerous opponents…..
